I'm helping a friend piece back together a 1978 Yamaha DT 175E, he disassembled the bike and now I get to put it back together for him and the throttle cable is throwing me for a loop, the throttle cable comes out of the throttle tube as one cable and then when it gets about a foot away from the end it branch's off into two cables, one of the cables goes into the top of the carburator and the other cable isn't hooked up to anything, it's just there, I have no manual and the owner of the bike doesn't really remember where everything exactly went, so does anybody out there know where this other cable is supose to go or is this even the correct throttle cable for the bike?

The other end of the throttle cable is for the auto oil injection pump. The DT's used a Mikuni pump and it was located near the carb or inside the clutch side case near the top.. Perhaps your buddy (or someone else) has already removed the pump which obviously defeats the autolube feature. Not to worry though. If the pump is gone or not functioning properly, just leave the cable dangle and run the bike with a good pre-mix. Good luck!
