1979 It 400

I've found what I feel is a great deal. It is a running presentable 1979 Yamaha IT 400. I can get it for less than $200. Does this bike have any use at AHRMA events. I'd like to get involved, but don't want to spend much money to get started. Can this bike be upgraded to a YZ spec. in terms of power, appearance, and suspension? Any other thoughts? Thank You

The IT400 is AHRMA-legal in the PV Open class for H/S; and in GP500 for PVMX.

Unless you're an Expert-level rider - I wouldn't worry about trying to make it a YZ killer. It's plenty of bike, as is.
