I have a 1979 IT175 and I was wondering what kind of cheap perfomance mods I could do I mostly do trail riding and its already been ported and has a reed spacer any suggestions would be appreciated
spw1993, boyse reeds make for a crisper bottom end and a harder mid range pull. Also, an 11 tooth counter shaft sprocket also helps things out. Jetting that is spot on is most important.
The 1979 YZ forks & shock will bolt right on. The YZ susp. increases the travel. We ran this set up in a 24 - hour race at Otter Creek raceway, Zwingle, Iowa, in 1979. It worked very well!
I do not recall if other years YZ suspension is similar, or not. You can find this stuff for reasonable prices, if you shop around.
My '79 IT175 was one of the most fun bikes I have owned. Stone stock, I won several MX races on mine. Good luck with yours! Ken W.
