I just bought a '79 Suzuki TS185 at an auction. I'm ordering a manual, but in the mean time, I'm hoping somebody can help me out with a few basic questions. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, but I'm new to bikes (I'm a snowmobile guy).

A) What oil should I use for the transmission?
B) What oil for the engine?
C) Is there a procedure for testing the oil pump? I'm using premix for now until I know it's working right.
D) Should the electronics work without a battery hooked up (when the engine is running of course)?

I think that's all for now. I've taken it for a few spins on our dirt road and I love it. It's the first bike I've really ever ridden.

Dont run it on pre-mix!!!!
Some one correct me if im wrong, but suzuki use's the pump to lube the left side crank bearing and pre-mix dosen't lube it.

I haven't disconnected the oil injection system or anything. It still has some oil in the reservoir. I just used pre-mix gas in the tank since I'm not sure it's working, and I figured a little extra lube would be good since it hasn't been run in a while.
