1986 KDX 80 carb needle

does anybody know what clip position on the needle is stock setting. This this is a little too rich.

I'd assume the middle position. Since you think it is running rich, you could try dropping the needle (raising the clip) by one notch to start with and see if it runs better.

Ok I will start there. Mixed it 32:1 lots of smoke and oil dripping. Picked it up on craigslist for $250.

I checked the needle clip and it was on the top ring. I mixed some fuel 40:1, hope that helps.

What makes you think it's too rich?

Lots of oil dripping out the pipe and sounds raspy from the middle to top end. I went from 32:1 to 40:1 and it's a little better.
