1987 kdx 200 cylinder

well we pulled the head off my friend's 87 kdx and the piston seems a bit sloppy and there are some scores in the cylinder. The question is are the air cooled ones nickle plated or what? We were planning on boring it out and getting a new piston and ring, will i have to replate. Thanks

So with the older ones you have to just buy a whole new cylinder if it gets scored or scratched? 400 is way outa the price range since it was a 500 dollar bike anyways. Let me know any alternatives to buying a brand new piece
