I have two 1987 Suzuki DR125's The friend I got them from purchased them new and did ZERO maintanance and now I need to change the front fork fluid and seals, BUT I cant get them apart, what do I do ? I was told to take out the bolt at the bottom of the fork and the fork comes apart, well I took the bolt out of the bottom and I still cant get the forks apart. What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks,

To get the seals apart you need to pull down the seal dust cover with a thin blade screwdriver-work around the dust seal bit by bit until it comes away from the tube. The under the dust seal you will find a clip that holds the fork seal in place-remove this with the thin blade screwdriver-then warm the tube the seal sits in with boiling water(be very carefull with hot water)when its nice and hot pull the tubes apart in opposing directions and you will find the inner and outer tubes will come apart.Use a piece of pvc tubing to push in the new seals.Make sure they are seated flat.
