1989 vs 1990 CR125 transmission

I aquired an 89 cr125 for very cheap recently, not running. Ive gotten it running (although it runs like **** because the powervalve isnt set up right), but it has no first gear. A friend of mine had a 1990 CR125 frame, bottom end, and swingarm that he had sitting around and he gave that to me.

Im wondering if the 90 and 89 share the same transmission... ie, can I use the first gear (or all gears if need be) from the 1990 in the 1989's cases?
