1999 Suzuki RM 125

I need to if I have to use the spark plug that is called for in my 1999 RM 125. It calls for a NGK R6918B-8. The plug costs $18.00. I was told that I had to use it or it would burn the top out of my piston.Or damage my bike. I wanted to know if this is true or could I use a NGK BR8ES or something like that. Need help.

Hello Wade,

I have owned a 96' & 00' Suzuki RM125 before. They both came with that special $18.00 plug. You can run NGk ES & EV plugs in the right heat range with no problems. I had also ran splitfire plugs too. There is nothing to worry about and I never thaught that the special plug they put in those bikes made any performance difference either.
