Hi all, If I attempt to put the bike in first gear while it is running it dont lock the engine all the way tight but it just wont pull hardly at all. With the engine off you can push it in first gear and it seems fine. Once you can no longer go the shifter locks the shift lever very tight. You have to shake the bike forwards and backwards and then it will finally unlock. This is the only gear it will do this in. If you are downshifting and you get to first gear it will finally skid to a stop. Have any ideas? Thanks much

 You're gonna have to be a little clearer about your problem. Otherwise, post that in the "Ask Cleo" forum. YZ165

Ok I will try to explain a little clearer. When you put the motorcycle in first gear it will not go but maybe two feet . If you put it in second gear it will take off fine. It seems to lock the transmission into first gear totally. You then have to rock the bike forward and backward until the shifter will pop loose(it gets very tight and will not move). Hope this is a little clearer now.

Sounds like a worn or bent shift fork in the transmission.

Thanks for the clarification. I think Darringer summed it up nicely.
