2001 YZ250f shift problem

I have a 2001 yz250f that is running well, but
all of a sudden won't shift from 4th gear to
5th gear. Shift from 4th into 5th and the bike
goes into neutral, it will not go into 5th gear.
All the other gears 1-4 are working fine.

What could be my problem? I appreciate any
responses that may help.

sounds like a typical yamaha, try shifting slower, adjust your clutch. My yamaha has what seems like the grand canyon from first to second and gets stuck in neutral all the time, more so if im trying to race around all i have to do is concentrate a little more on what gear im in and pin it.

Sounds like worn dogs on gears to me-rebuild time im afraid.
