Does anyone have any experience with adjusting the ignition timing on a 02 CR250R. I am searching for a little more low end grunt out of the corners. So far my bike has Pro-Circuit pipe w/ shorty silencer, v-force reed valves, and a 7 ounce Steahly.

The track owner at my local practice track suggested I try retarding the timing for more low-end. I have found some info using the search function, but no solid tips as to exactly how far to adjust.

Thanks in advance for any help you are able to provide!

Unless you have an overbore, advancing the timing will usually help you a little bit in the low/midrange area but make the topend run flat. You also need to be running good fuel when doing this as it will cause your bike to ping if pushed too far. I'm not sure if you can adjust the CR stator as I've never seen one.

You have to file out the hole as they have a little plate to stop it moving, be carefull as it could detonate with advanced timing.

you probably wont feel much lowend gain to make it worth while, especially given the problems advancing the ignition can cause.

Looks like it may be time to call Eric Gorr this winter...

It sounds like a low/mid port job would be the hot ticket for you!
