I have ridden a motorcycle a bunch of times, mainly an XR100 and a DRZ100(i think). But now I am getting serious and I am about to get myself a new bike. My dad was a racer for a long time and he wants to ride the bike too, which means it has to be a 125 or higher.

Would the new 125sx be ok for me?

I am 5"8', 15 years old.

Any opnions on other bikes that would be better?

I can't tell you much more than what the mags and my experiences with bigger bikes have told me. It won't be a night-and-day difference but maybe a Yamaha YZ125 would be a bit more suitable with its better suspension and perhaps more benign engine characteristics. If you can get good support and price for a KTM, by all means go for it.

Hmm I dont really want a four stroke, and niether does my dad.

I think its a toss up between the 125sx and the kx125...

Im gonna be doing mostly trail riding and stuff, and learning to race etc...

The KTM has a monster motor. If it's your first bike you may want to go with something a little tamer like a CR125R or the KX125. Go to a dealership, sit on them, and if possible, test ride one before buying it. The KTM is a sweet bike but the motor may be a little too powerful. Good luck, have fun and make sure you get a helmet, boots, goggles, knee pads, gloves and maybe a chest protector.
