2003 kx125 or 2000 yz125!Which bike would yall suggest for my first bike ever. Both of them will cost me the same price and both are basically brand new and run perfect. I just need to know which one would be better for me. Of course im all about the power. Which ever one would go fast and be able to handle good in trails, mud, and hills. I dont think i will ever race them or take it to any tracks, i just want it to ride in bayous and stuff like that. Also i want one that wont just break on me and need to be fixed all the time.

In this situation, it will be a matter of pick your favorite color. They are extremely close to being the same bike. Sit on them both and, if possible, give them both a trial ride. That will most likely be the best way to make up your mind.

Does the KX125 have a KIPS valve? That would help to make it a better trail bike.

Just keep in mind that a 125 likes to have its neck wrung to make good power. Gotta keep the RPMs up high. I'd put a BIG flywheel weight on which ever one you buy and spend a day getting the jetting right.

They are both 2 stroke 125s......except them to break.
So would it just be better for me to go ahead and just get a ttr 125 since i will be doing trial ridding. I heard ttr 125's are the best bikes to just play around on, nothing serious. So now i have to choose between the kx125(since it is newer i rather have it then the yz125) or a ttr 125.

Well comparing a TTR to a YZ or KX is like comparing a Chevy Cobalt to a Ferrari. Both will get you where you're going but one will make your hair stand on end in doing so. The TTR will be more ridable at slow speeds and won't have that 125 powerband HIT. But the suspension on the TTR is pretty bad in comparison.

The TTR is definitely a better beginner bike.

But if you are of any size larger than 5'2", then you will be bored with (ttr 125) it in less than a month.

Thanks for the help everyone, i have decided to just go with a two stroke. Alot of people have told me that yamaha yz is more reliable and better made than a kx. Is this true?
