Motorcycling Australia today announced Honda CRF150 will have a class

From www.fullnoise.com.au

Honda CRF150 will have a class from October 2006

Motorcycling Australia today announced the approval of a new category of off-road machines for junior competitors.

The Board of the national governing body approved the new 4-stroke 150cc machines to compete in various off-road competitions.

The decision to approve the category is in line with a similar move by Fèdèration Internationale de Motocyclisme [FIM], the international controlling body for motorcycle sport.

The new 150cc machines will be eligible to race from mid-October 2006.

Details of the revised competition rules are currently in development, and should be released with 14 days.

ONLY IF HIS PARENTS LET HIM!

Even if this is a High RPM motor it still is not going to have the "HIT" of an 85.
My kid can't wait for the 150, hates the 85 because of the hit,
I personaly dont think a 7 year old should be on a 85 either.

agreed, mine rides an crf 80, and rm65. aj rode the 150 today says it's slower but torque is much better then an 85, my concern is wieght. I dont' have a big issue with a 150 for 12-15 class, but 7-11 is a deal breaker. At this point ama staff placed it to cover both. hell i have a problem with staff submitting this many rules changes anyway. of course honda should have made a 125, it fit the rules. not just "expect" congress would pass the increase.

see what happens in 14 days. will post up as I know.

ps ama rules are about the only way to protect these kids from thier parents. sad but true. cobra tried 6 years ago to put a huge carb on the 50 and we stopped it. of course my opinion is they should have never made "race" 50cc classes or bikes!

I agree that a 7 year old seems young for a 150 but a 7 year old is also small on a 85 and we see it weekend after weekend. What about the 10 and 11 year olds - if not passed they just miss the boat and will have to be thrown into the senior class the following year with boys that have rode 150's for a year. I agree that there are small kids out there but there are also kids that are tall and have to leave some of the smaller classes before they hit there age cap because of it - I say let it pass
