Ok say your 2003 CR250 is a lovely bike, but you crave more power.....lots of it. I'm sure Mo better portin would help but. Which oversize kit? Is 270 too big and will cause overheating etc. If the hit is violent gearing up whould be great! probably cheaper that a wide ratio set. I guess I would have loved a 300cc CR. Yeah I'm fat LOL! thoughts ????? Who is happy with their big bore 2002 up CR? thanks The Squirley1

My 265 ran great...ran real hard actually. The setup from Gorr is a great setup for a case-reed CR250. After doing the 265 mod, you can then run taller gearing, it will pull it

anybody done a yz265? I would like to do this to my 05 if the power spread is about the same, just more of it. How about reliability any problems with clutches/jetting etc?

A 265 should give more power everywhere, whereas a 310 overbore would give lots more on bottom but wouldn't rev out as much. Anytime you increase power, you are going to decrease clutch life, unless the engine makes enough power that you aren't clutching it as often as you were before the mods. Your best bet is to call Eric, tell him what you want and see if he can do it.

The CR265s seem to get fantastic reviews everwhere I've read.

Oh yeah, a $400 bore job is a lot cheaper than a 500AF. ;)

My advise is to buy the size that Eric Gorr has. If you dont, a new piston can cost over 200.00.

I had a YZ 317. The company that made it had exclusive rights to the piston. With shipping, it would have been over 225.00. I believe Eric sells his big bore weisco pistons for around 100.00.

They also wanted to rape me on gaskets.....

I ran a '97 cr250 with an Eric Gorr 300 and it was fantastic, it would pull 426's up hills. I'd do it again (I've still got the jug but a chunk is missing from the exhaust port, otherwise I'd have it on my '01)

Are you saying that the piston for a 265 is $100?

I believe it was in the area of 100.00 from Eric. Maybe a bit more, but at least 1/2 the price of some of the other places. . I dont mean to be quoting his prices so I will stop. I do know they are a huge amount less than the other guys are getting.

You will die when you try to order the gaskets from the other guys. Very expensive. The big bore engines should last a long time.

RPM, Max Power, etc, are VERY proud of their pistons.

The other bit I would offer is this. Do not go so big as to lose your powervalve. The big bore kits that do this are not much fun. The 317 kit I had ALLOWED the powervalve, but a lot had to be cut away. This made the p/v very weak. A new one would last just a few hours.
