3 Stone Hone

[XR 250R RIDER]

Has anybody tried using a 3 stone hone to deglaze a cylinder instead of a ball hone? Whats your experiences or opinions?

I've always felt a big hone can take too much material away too fast.
I prefer to use Scotch-Brite pads over the ball hones too.

(also a chance of catching a flat hone on a port)

Ditto what Jaybird said. Scotch-brite pad is fast, easy, and safe.

I used a 3-stone hone and let me tell you that it was a baaaad experience.

I have no problems with bead hones.... If you are just deglazing the cyl walls though then just go ahead with the scotch brite.
