The fuel tank on my '81 YZ 250H split down the right side, right above where the factory decal used to be (strange part is the tank looks damn near brand new). The crack runs front to back on the tank for about 4". Using Marine Tex I've managed seal things back up, however I'm now seaching for a replacement tank, but so far no luck with the bone yards.
The question I have is this: Looking at the YZ's from '77 to '81 (250's, 400's 465's) the tanks look the same, but pulling up the parts fiche shows different part numbers (even for the '81 YZ 250G & H models). Does anyone know if a tank from a different year/model bike would be a bolt up?

The 1977 thru 1979 YZs had the monoshock run thru the main backbone. Starting in 1980 it bolted to the back end of the main backbone. This results in different sized tunnels in the gas tanks.

I'll keep my ear to the ground.

So far my patch has held, my wife stress tested it with a couple of good wrecks...lost two levers, but the Marine-Tex is holding well.
