Can someone tell me how to disassemble the forks on my 82 KDX 175.I want to replace the fork seals.I'm sure that there is a special tool that I need, can it be fabricated?
On my old '83 i remember using a couple long 1/2" socket extensions, a short SAE socket and wedged a nut into this socket with paper towel or rubber glove material , so the nut sticks out 1/2 way; that would mate the female socket in the fork to the 'tool'. Sorry forget the dimension.
Then used a 1.75" muffler pipe adapter as a seal driver.
Not pretty, :o but spent 2$ and didn't break anything, perhaps it'll help.
