83 KDX 200 CDi Unit

Does anyone know where I can get a used or fairly cheap CDI unit for a 83 KDX 200? Is their any aftermarket units?? Thanks a ton.

You know what I think I have one in my stack of old KDX parts. Can you give me the part number off yours and I'll see if I have a match. If not I'd check with Fredette Racing Products and see if he has something for you.

You mean to tell me that there is still another 83' KDX200 out there ? Bring it to the midwest spodefest, mine will be there and we will show them how the old ones will still rip ! If you come up with nothing on the search for a CDI give me a holler. Maybe we can do some crossreferencing and find one that will work.

Wow that is three of us!! I also own an 83 and yes, it rips. Check on ebay for a CDI box. I know that a while ago there was a bunch of stuff from an 83 200 that was for sale CHEAP. I was tempted to buy his plastics and other such stuff but I passed it up. Oh well. Nice to see other guys still riding the most reliable bike I've ever ridden. Take care.

You can still get a new one from Kaw but they want almost $280.00 for one. I'm looking for a used (aka Cheap) one. Dave please dont let the retail price influence your price to me if you have one! (grin)

Make it 4 1983 KDX 200's!
A friend of mine bought it new when we were in high school, a few years ago it was stolen. Then a guy found it in a field while mowing a field about 2 years later. Some carb cleaning, relubing, a new seat cover, 2 new tires, an air cleaner and it's almost as good as ever. The ignition seems to be weak, but keep a new spark plug handy and it will still rip! The suspension will beat you up and forget about stopping in a hurry, but it still rips!

Make that 5 83's. I just bought mine about a month ago for $350, but I had to get a new piston kit its an LA Sleeve Big bore kit. I'm also waiting on the carb from the guy I bought it from, but I think he's giving me the runaround. So if anyone out there knows where I can find a used Carb cheap let me know.:mad:
