84 KDX Clutch Basket Nut Removal

I just acquired an '84 KDX 200 and need to change the clutch plates and springs, they're dragging like crazy. I'm waiting for my shop manual to arrive, but in the mean time can anyone tell me if the 24mm nut holding the clutch basket on is a standard thread direction? I don't want to put an impact gun on it the wrong direction. Any help is appreciated!

Pretty sure it would be mate. My '91 is a normal thread and I believe the later models are too. Seeing as they didn't change the direction of engine rotation, it's a safe bet that the clutch hub nut spins the same way in yours.

If you want to take the safe route, undo it by hand. I've got some notes about how to lock things up to make this easy on the following page (see "Gear lever floppy):
