Anyone know if any other year parts fit, if other motors mount in, etc. I may be picking an old beat up one from a friend, and I know it needs a little love. Seems like Honda was messin' around a bit in the late 80's making a bunch of changes each year. Any help appreciated

Man I had an 86 CR250 it had a drum rear brake but as I remeber the rest of the bike was the same.

Wish I had one, I loved that 86 and the 87 was supposed to be the ultimate....

have fun!

The guys are right about the 86 and 87 models. The only mechanical difference is the rear brake. Also 88 - 91 are exactly the same except for the power valve set up. The cylinders may be slightly different as far as port dimensions etc but I'm pretty sure you could interchange them as well, but if you want to run the newer power valve system you will need a new governer which runs off the water pump shaft. As for bolting in motors anywhere from 86 - 91 should go in no troubles.

i think the 88 engine will fit, but 88 was the first year of the low boy pipe, so it (the pipe) wont. the tank is different also on the 88.

FWIW, i had both, the 87 was a much better bike than the 88
