I have a 97 CR500 and am in search of a new front tire,I can get a good deal on an rr or what does everyone think about the bridgestone 401 in a 90/100.I mostly ride on hard to intermediate locally and sand up north. :aj:
both are great tires, but the RR have limited lifespan, probably worse than the regular 756.
the wide one isnt too good in sand, but the RR will go bad really quick on hard pack.
but if you ever get a tire that works well on hard to intermediate and sand, and lasts really well then let me know- i will buy stocks in whoever makes them !!! :)
I rode with both tires the same day. I agree that the wide brigestone is not a great sand tire, but I would still choose it.
It will outlast the 756rr and cost less. I am quite pleased with mine. I still have a brand new 756rr in case I find a place where the bridgestone does not cut it.
A few weeks ago I stopped by my local dealer and asked about it.
He told me there was no such thing, I assured him there was.
He then called his supplier and found out there was a part # for it, but it was back ordered.
I wound up with the 80/100-21 742.
I run the 756 in a 120/90-19, I feel safer with the extra side wall for woods riding, I really wanted the 90/100 for the front.
A friend of mine just put on a Bridgestone 202 in a 120/90-19 that tire has a very stiff sidewall, it feels as though it could run fine @ 10 lbs. He is going to order the 201 front in the 90/100.
