Hi, I have a new to me 91 200 and I'm doing a top end. I have the barrel off and all the kips covers off. I found the top of the second valve gear shaft (from the actuator side) to be broken off about a half inch from the top. It still locates in the spacer, but just barely. The valve seems to function, although it hangs up once in a while. I ordered a new shaft.

My question is how do I fully dissassemble the KIPS valve to clean it? I ordered a manual, but there was a shipping problem and I had to start this job without it. The articles on here cover the newer guillotine style valve, not the older rotary one.

I can pull up on the third kips gear shaft, but the second one is broken, so I can't pull it up. The first one won't come up at all.

Thanks for any advice.

OK, I found some threads about this, I suppose I should order the left side valve as well. but I still need to know how to get the valves out.

I just need to know how the rack comes out. I've tried pulling it out and pushing it out the far side. No love.

Took mine out the other night to fix a broken power valve. You need to take the cotton reel looking part off the shaft its held on with 2 clips.Next in line is the circular part with the seal in the end it is held in place to the cylinder with a bolt.undo the bolt and pull this part from the cylinder. The rack gear shaft can then be pulled out.It will pull out so far and then stop against the rh powervalve. You need to rotate the shaft and it should pull out the rest of the way.Hope this helps sorry I dont know the correct names for the all parts.

Thanks, I unsderstand. The thing I didn't try was rotating the shaft when it stops against the valve.
