hey all, im new here. i just picked up a ^ and the cylinder has a pretty good size gouge... i was thinking of getting a big bore and then nikasil plating but im scared of the same thing happening again. this is what i want to do;
-la sleeve boreable cast iron sleeve (std bore) $88
-std bore piston (oem or wiseco) $60-100
-machinist friend to do all labor...
*so with the sleeve, all i have to do is bore out the cylinder? *is the cast iron sleeve press fit?
*i heard that the sleeve can be bored up to 3 times, but do you use a bigger piston, since obviously the cylinder will be bigger...?
*after the cast iron sleeve has been bored too many times, can you replace the sleeve with a new one?
...i know that the cast iron sleeve isn't the most efficient way to solve the problem b/c of heat, quicker wear, but for me it is the cheaper alternative (free machine work)... and im really scared of having a ruined nikasil coating! thanks!
