Looking for som advice for all you xr 400 guys. I have a 96 xr 400 with a cracked sub frame. my questin for everyone is it worth the $ to buy an aluminum aftermarket sub frame
Can you weld it? $20 to pay someone to weld it vs. the $150+ for an aluminum one. If it were me, the little performance gain doesn't justify the cost. But it would sure look cool.
I've heard plenty of stories of problems with the aluminum subframes for that bike. Most of them were either complaints about the threads or the lower mount holes elongating.
Basically the part of the bike that holds the seat and rear fender to the frame. On most motorcycles you can unbolt this part. They will tend to vary in design, but the idea is the same I guess.
