Just wanted to know if it's worth the money to replace the stock pipe and silencer? I ride woods only. When I drag race a KX500, he only beats me by a bike or 2 through 3 or 4 gears.

I'm not really hurting for power, I just want to know if it's worth spending the money and if it will give me more power.

Thanks.

Keep the stocker - it is realy good .
A fmf gnarly will help some with the bottom ( for woods) but hurts top end a little .
A PC works is well rounded as is the FMF fatty .

Hard to beat the stocker though .

I agree with Pete, that an aftermarket pipe is not worth the money for you.

Another alternative that is cheaper than a new aftermarket pipe is a used pipe from a '99. It is supposed to be a little better for low end power than your '97.

I had a '99 I bought from a district champ enduro and cross country racer, and he used the stock pipe, and felt it was better for offroad than the the aftermarket pipes.

For all around trail performance, you will get much more benefit from revalving the suspension and getting a steering damper, IMO. Factory Connection did a great job on the suspension on my '99.
