97 cr250 rear wheel vs 01

Question: What are the differences between the 97 cr250 rear wheel and the 01 rear wheel. Let's just say I happened to destroy the hub on my 01 and I have a 97 complete rear wheel sitting in my garage.

Is it different bearings? Do I need to forget this idea and get a new hub?

I know for a fact that the axle diameter got bigger in 2000 whether or not you could swap out the spacers and bearings I am not sure , but I doubt it will work unless you maybe have the axle and the adjuster blocks off of the 97? Hmmm. Maybe some others have some ideas?
