Hello Guys, I just bought this bike from someone and came across this useful site. The only problem I have with this bike is the back shock is really lose. It feels like there is a bad seal in the shock itself and has no compression. Also what is the little tank next to the coil spring that has what looks like a air fitting on it. Can that be filled with air to tighen the shock? I am 6'0 200 lbs.

Thanks for any Info

Quick take the shock off and get it rebuilt. If it has a blown seal and you continue to ride it will be destroyed. Like driving your car without oil, must have lubrication on moving parts! The little tank is for nitrogen but air could be used as a temporary replacement.

I wouldn't suggest using air from a compressor, even as a temporary solution.

The shock on most bikes needs somewhere around 140 or so psi to operate properly, and your typical home compressor will most likely only provide about 90psi.

Then you have a moisture issue.

Like minutz said first, rebuild it. Then find a tire store in your area that has a nitrogen refill setup, and have it filled.

(after you check the service manual for the proper amount)
