Depends on how long ago you downloaded it.

Everyone in the industry uses hacks. the problem is the makers have gotten wise and now the trial version is not the same and is harder to crack.

If you know what you are doing, and I am not say you or anyone should do this, nor am I saying that I ever have.

Go to a Warez site or certain crack sites and you have what you need. Now if you are going to use their software to make something to make products to sell then you should pay for it to avoid problems later.

If not then you got to pay like the rest.

Sincerely,

Riz

if you know anyone that is in college right now, you could have them check out the stores. my high-school is on the Cal-Poly Pomona campus in California, we were able to get photoshop 6.0 for a low price compared to retail  , my friends and i chipped in and bought a copy...

hey riz,

you shouldn't tell people to goto warez sites, they lead to a lot of trouble, most of the files are infected by viruses and trojans (very hard to detect sometimes). warez sites have hundreds of pop-up adds, someone onetime pulled up one of those sites during class, to say the least he had a nice 5 day vacation with extra work to do...

YZr1der,

Yeah 99% of the crack sites are wacked but I have not had any problems with the viruses.

You have to know where to go. That is the hard part.

But it really stinks to pay 400 bucks for software you dont like and cant use. I "know" a guy who gets the cracks then later after he is sure it is a good program then he does not mind paying for the newer version. Most of the hacks are of slightly older versions.

They (the software companies) know the hacks are out there. I personally think that it drives a lot of business for them if the product is good. People who are going to pay do and then there are the ones that will get the hack or borrow their friends copy, or go in halves with a buddy. Either way someone is not paying for it. The important thing for the software company is that everyone uses their stuff. Good for their reputation. I mean

Sincerely,

Riz

the viruses are easy to deal with and get rid of before infection, but it is the trojans that get you.. they are what the name implies, a "trojan horse".. they use your own pc against you because it isn't an automated program, it is control by an actual person...

as long as people use cracks( also known as reverse engineering) only for educational purposes (there original intent), there is no problem, as long as they delete the stuff in 24 hours, and buy it later.

oh yeah, check your PMs padrutt199...

The rationale so far is pretty funny stuff.
1) Crack it to see if it's good enough to buy? That's why there are evaluation copies.
2) Only want to use it for one thing? Tell the cop you stole the bike to ride it just one time. It you liked it, you'd buy your own.
3) Cracks (serial number cracks) no longer work on Adobe evals.

Did you ever wonder WHY it costs $400.00??? maybe because of the HUGE amounts of piracy that is currently taking place may be driving prices up? Just a thought.

How many people do you know that would spend $400 on a piece of software??? Maybe if the price were $20 more people would buy it and the revenue would actually increase...

:think Well I have been in the industry for years, use the program prolly 4-8 hours a day and I have yet to use a hack version... Companies in the industry have too much at stake to get busted over a $400 software program.

If it were me... I would have a friend in college or an old instructor order it for me. Adobe offers a big discount to students and instructors...

Ok good point.

Thump

I agree! If used for business then its a lot cheaper to pay for it than to get sued. I meant just for playing around with stuff.

I guess it is "stealing" in a way. Ok in everyway. I just never looked at it like that. I personally would and have bought newer versions if they were good. I cant even use half of the stuff I have bought, I just liked the software and thought well I will learn how to use them later.

I have also been very disappointed after buying something based on the "trial" version or the misleading descriptions. If the software companies offered money back guarantees I think it would help. I offer money back guarantees on everything I sell. I dont care if it is used and I cannot resell it. I believe you should stand by a product if you sell it.

Ever try to return software?

:scream:

Micro Center is the only place I have ever found that will let you return it. That is because they are listed with the Govt as a mail order company and have to by law accept returns. Or so I have been told. Either way no one else will let you return software that has been opened.

On a lighter note.

Thump this weather is making me mad. I wanted to ride yesterday. Looking forward to riding with you.

Sincerely,

Riz

...what do you do with this $600 software? Are you a professional? Give me some examples of what you do.. I'm not being a smart-a$$ I'm just very curious. I wouldn't spend $600 on anything that doesn't run on gas.
