Hey JeffK, I do freelance photowork, mostly architectural work , a lot goes on websites for Architect, General Contractors, some end up on conference room walls and company brochures. Myself I just use it as a digital darkroom, nothing fancy, just whatever you would do in a normal darkroom I can do at my desk.

btw, it was not $600 for 6.0, it was $1000.00 for 6.0, Illustrator,go live and live motion. so thats not a bad deal

Hey Pivey, isn't it funny that you, a guy who goes by the book and does the right thing by paying for something, gets his bike stolen and the guy who uses cracks on borrowed software probably never gets a thing taken!? That's how it always goes. By the way, I'm still looking for your bike and if I find it, I'll tell you where it's at first!

Thanks Elk, I'd love to get it back in any condition, as far as software, I hate it when someone bootlegs my work, so I don't bootleg anybodies. besides my camera pays for itself, any software,Film,Lenses and sometimes bike goodies

KaZaA is not a good program... it has a lot of bad spyware in it, they are watching your every move, they can have access to your passwords, etc. the same goes for cometcursor...

If all you are doing is changing colors of your photos, you dont need photoshop. Photoshop is a professional tool, there are many, many novice and beginner photo editing programs out there pretty cheap. I have photoshop 4.0, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0 and have never come close to using a fraction of the available tools. Get something simple and cheap. And please dont use the warez sites, or other pirate sites, the headache of viruses isnt worth the stolen software.

Didja ever think of this?

Why not ask someone here to tweak the image for you? You can e-mail it to them with instructions.. Yes I have adobe and a few other photo programs.

JPivey.. thats cool I figured if you spent that much money on something like that then you must be making some money on it somehow. It sounded to me like the guy who wanted the software would be wasting his money buying something like this and there are sites like download.com that have many many trial versions of software that lets you modify pictures... when the trial time runs out just reinstall it... then everyone can be happy that nobodys stealing anything (really).

Gospeed.. I like a good joke as much as anyone but I didn't get the whole battery comment... What does it mean? Don't you hate when you cut on someone and they are too stupid to understand it?

most trial versions aren't reinstallable... when you instal the trials of big programs such as photoshop, premiere, flash, they add some settings to your registry.

has any one used the MGI photo suite programs. i have photo suite 4 and video wave 4 and they work great. i had adobe photoshop 5 , and not being a professional, found it very hard to use. the mgi stuff has a lot of the basic features, with an easier more friendly layout, i use a kodak dc34000 2 megapixel camera and a jvc dv camcorder, and i couldnt be happier with the more basic mgi programs. yhey are also much cheaper for purchase.

In response to:

" how do you delete posts if they are accidently posted multiple times? "

ZOOK,

I usually edit my post, delete everything in it and just type in:

"DOUBLE POST, PLEASE DELETE"

ZOOK, see the "Edit/Delete" in the bottom right hand corner of your post? If you click on that there is a check box and a "Delete Post" button. You can delete your own posts. If you are the originator of the thread, deleting your post will result in the entire thread being deleted.

Sorry Jeffk, I was being silly yesterday. It would probably have made more sense if you were a woman. ;)

There is a site you can download programs from called Swapnut.com.
I used it to download MP3's yet some folks swap whole programs. Not saying to try it, the IS guy's hear made me uninstall it.
It was made by the same guy that started Napster.

I really don't think the average person has the money to spend $400 on a piece of software to just edit a couple of photos at home or maybe make one displacement map for MCM2, yeah you could get Paint Shop Pro but Photoshop was what I was taught in school so I like it.

1) Crack it to see if it's good enough to buy? That's why there are evaluation copies.

Well to draw a parallel here - if you went down to a local bike shop and wanted to test a bike before you bought it would the dealer say "Well sure you test drive it, just wait till I remove the handlebars and brake pads, you should still be able to get a good idea of what the bike is like...". I may have downloaded games before of the net, I play the first few levels, if I like the game I will play on and more often then not I will go and buy it if I see it in a shop, if the game is useless I will stop playing it and more then likely delete it to save space.

I think the real reson Photoshop is expensive is because it is very powerful and very specialised so only a small(ish) specific group of people need it, and for them the price is worth paying.

The whole lot of Warez sites have really gone downhill in the last couple of years to the point where it is almost impossible to actually reach a site where you can download something without entering your credit card number numerous times. Best bet for getting software is buying compilation CDs of cracked programs from "certain" sites.

Lousy morals maybe but with going to university, not working and trying to pay race fees and maintenance fees spending hundreds of $$$ on MS Visual Studio, Photoshop, ISE Eiffel etc etc. just is not possible...

Just my opinion...

Morpheus/kazza is the spawn of satan imo. It's ok for downloading mp3s, but it and other file sharing programs are a very poor way to download large files - too much luck involved.

There are good free sites for current cracked apps/games or iso's if you look in the right places. Not that I use them.

Spyware--

<--INFO HERE-->

Older obsolete versions of Paint Shop Pro #5 can still be found on the internet
for free by searching.

I bought a copy of Jasc Paint Shop Pro at Sam's Club, it reatailed for $110 aand was on sale for around eighty dollars, plus there was a $35.00 rebate coupon with it so it ended up only costing about $45.00

Deals are out there if you look.

The spawn of Satan? ha ha, you think Morpheus is any worse than IRC/newsgroups? Didn't think so.
