Hey guys-I'm a new rider and I'm looking to start purchasing gear. I'll be doing mostly woods trails around my farm and also some riding in our gravel pit. At the moment I've got an old junky atv helmet and that's it for gear. I've got about a hundred bucks to spend right now, so I figure I can either buy a decent helmet, decent boots, or a decent chest protector. I probably won't have spare cash again for a month or so, so what is the most important thing for me to buy? Thanks!

In order of importance:

1) DOT/Snell approved Helmet.

2) Above the ankle boots (work boots can work in a pinch)

3) Eye protection

4) Gloves

5) knee pads, elbow pads, chest protector

You may not want to hear it, but don't ride until you have proper gear...

Helmet, boots & gloves at minimum...

alright. my helmet is fine, it just looks crappy. I'll probably order a pair of boots and gloves and wait to get a helmet that looks a little better

When shopping for a helmet, cost & look isn't the most important factors.

Shop for fit. I'd suggest you don't order one online until you take a ride to the bike shop and try them on. Find one that fits properly and then order..
