500 lucky guys are racing dirt bikes right now, and I'm not! :p I'm stuck here in my office trying to close a few deals and schedule a business trip.

My bike still has mud on it from the last enduro, it needs new brake pads front and rear, and it needs new rear wheel bearings!

I guess I'll just have to stare at the picture of me at the Alligator that's on the wall in my office! I should have played hooky and gone trail riding today. It's beautiful outside, going up to 71 today. Oh Yeah, see the above about the condition of my bike! Damn!

Well... I used to be a member of a private land lease out in Pell City, but I only went there 3 times in one year, so I couldn't justify the cost for the number of times that I went out there.

I did some riding down at Clanton with Mark and Tim, I went there twice, and I've raced there before. I also rode down there when I was working on the BT&T enduro.

I was a member at Meridian, but only got to ride there once before it shut down. I've ridden out a Kentuck since '89, but those trails are way too wide, and I try to avoid that place as much as possible.

Before all of the land development and lawsuits, we used to ride out in Helena all the time, but I haven't been out there in 5 or 6 years.

We used to put our enduro on at Jemison Alabama, and I knew that place like the back of my hand, but land sales, new houses, and hunting clubs shut that down for us, so no race there anymore and I don't ride there anymore.

To be honest, I don't get to do too much trail riding. I go to the races when I can. Some of the trail riding I do is at events like DRN's Dirtweek, (I've been to both, and will make it again this year if it's at Cooperland) and I'm going to the Lorretta Lynn's trail ride in a few weeks. It's a large organized two day trail ride.

One of my buddies has been riding at the trails around the bowl out in Helena. I cut a lot of trail out there years ago. He's going to take me out there and we'll see if we can get a decent loop in. There's one other members only place that I'm scouting out, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to get in. IF I do, I will probably get to do more trail riding this year.

There. That's a really long answer to your question.

How come you didn't go to the enduro this weekend out in LA? I didn't go because it's too far, and I have many chores to do around the house. I've been to that race many times and it's a really fun one.

Tim -

You have an open invite to ride with me at Clanton. I just joined in Feb. Just send me an e-mail. I plan on riding next friday or saturday. I don't have anyone to ride with. I often risk going alone which is stupid but who said I was smart? Tim and Mark usually ride sundays. I like to try and Church it but will be willing to ride in the afternoon.

I am in pretty much the same situation as you regarding the race in LA --- too many chores and too far. And to be honest I didn't have the money for gas/motel/blablabla. My daughter had baton competition in Memphis last weekend that kind of set be back.

Seriously let me know - play hooky this coming Friday.

Dont Worry Timr, My self and a friend of mine were two of the 500.
My First ALLIGATOR Enduro, Had a Great Ride. Very Wet this year lots of standing water. Some very tight woods. We were on minute 81, wish we had been around 30-40. But things went very well for us, We each brought home a Trophy.

Vor,

Congrats on the trophy. :) I've ridden the 'Gator before, and it's tough, but fun. I was I had been there.

Oh well, maybe I'll make it back there in a few years.

I went the last two years but opted out this time because you have to take 3 days off work and it ends up being a really expensive weekend. Plus my friends are into the party scene and I get sick of that. Especially right after a tough enduro. Maybe next year though.

Sharp,

I'll take you up on that Clanton ride offer in a few weeks. My bike is getting some attention now. I can do Saturdays if that's what you prefer.

Thanks for the offer,

That was COLD. My F-150 gave me some new tunes to that temp. The twirlers were inside a gym at the Navy base in Millington.
