Alpinestars Tech 5's

My buddy owns a pir of these. Shortly after he bought them, he starting having trouble with the buckles/latches falling apart. He asked Alpinestars for help and was sent some new parts. Problem was, they were the complete buckle assembly and had to be SEWN in! Seems a little rediculous to us. Has any of you had any similar problems with the Tech 5's? Thanks!

I had a pair of Tech 5's for about 3 years and never had a problem with them, with the exception of the soles wearing out quickly.

I'd bet if he sent the boots to Alpinestars, they'd take care of it. I've sent 2 sets of boots in for repair(crash/impact damage) and they've never charged me anything... They've got VERY good service IMHO.

I got some tech 5's about 2 years ago, and three of the latch assy's broke within about 3 months. The parts manager at my local shop got me new pieces from the rep and they have held up well. Maybe there were some QC problems with early latches.
