well, i did alright for my first hare scramble...finished 6 laps, the last 2 in heavy snow...it was awesome...if your thinking about running a hare scramble, go give it a try:)
hare scramble are fun I have only did one a few yrs back was like 5 or 6 laps in the woods thing. All I can say its a lot harder then mx was to me I am use to going 6 or 7 laps hard then pull off. I had a great time doing it :) :) :)
I would have like to have gone to that one, but the member I was going to go with decided not to go, and I had to work anyway. How many people showed up for that one? Did it get snotty?
id say around 100-150...2nd lap was getting icy..4th lap it started to snow...6th lap made you wish you didnt show up...whether you were A or C, you were wrecking in the snow...the rocks were wicked slick too but it was fun...watching the quads take off in the snow was funny...
Ive raced there for the past 4 years on a quad & it is very very tight & very ROCKY but is fun bikes would do much better but the rocks will sneak up & bite, swichted to a KTM400EXC this year but decieded not to go because I have a 2 wheel drive truck good thing I didnt go a friend had a 4by4 ranger and it took him 3.5 hrs to get home instead of 1.5hrs but he said it was a blast a few GNCC pro Quad racers showed up & #5 Chris Borich won Quad A class. There is another race there feb. 5th try it is fun...
no water crossings, but some of the creek beds look like they may have water in the summer. trails arent too tight if your on a bike....i thought they were actually too wide. the rocks CAN reach up and bite you, but if u ride them right, they WONT. it just takes a lap or 2 of practice...id recommend a practice lap before the race. really sandy course...lotsa whoops in the straights...big bermed corners ( bigger than the MX track ) all in all fun course
Antietam is probably the best D-7 HS track. I'm not to fond of Budd's because it is to wide open, like a highway. Mountaineer was pretty good last year, hopefully the can squeeze in a couple more miles this year. If you want really tight tracks, try one of the Virginia Championship Hare Scramble Series races. They are usually 6 to 13 mile loops, and always tight and technical.
yeah i thought that date seemed a little off...but ive got it here in Cycle East.. Feb. 10th The roxy's Cycles Challenge "too tough for motocrossers" gates at 8am, riders meeting at 10:15 AMA and District 7 required but u can get them at the track ( i recommend having them before hand, the line gets long) if your all going, say so, maybe we can get team DRN in the parking lot
