Hey, Sarge...I have a suggestion. You'll figure out how you want your layout to be, but once you start building, look into getting some sawdust. It makes the turns and the jump faces so much nicer. Holds moisture, and helps traction. Just dump a load in the turn and till it into the earth well.
Also, you may want to get a load or two of sand brought in for a turn or two.
I would use the sand for loose, lay-er down type turns. I like to till the sawdust into the earth making a mixture, rather than the whole turn being sawdust....that would be mucho dusty. Actually the sawdust laden dirt makes great ruts and berms.
jayyyy-biiird! great minds think alike, it's gonna be sand turned into this black illinois river dirt on the turns. i've got no disk or tractor, and i'm thinking to get my neighbor over here every week for track maint would be costly! i'll be at the P.C.C.C fri feb 1st, watching the arena cross, i like that layout because it's compact, but i think i could squeeze in a couple more tight turns. tight turns are good, ya get to know your riding buddies alot better that way, just ask big lou.:D
