Anyone own a 1982 bombardier can am 250

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen or ridden a bombardier can am 250. Im trading an old 3 wheeler for one today and wanted to here some feedback. Also where is the best place for parts..i checked ebay but not much on there.

hi,
i am currently attempting to restore a can-am 250 engine, the previous owner has removed the electronic ignition plug from the engine using CUTTERS! i have managed to track down a replacement ignition unit, but i have no idea of which wire goes where. this will sound really cheeky, but do you have this information? it would be greatfully recieved if you do!

I had a 79 can am 370 and it was a rocket. Im sure the 250 is great too. The worst part about it was the shifter shaft going through the kick start shaft. My shifter shaft was bent so it would sometimes go into gear right as it started causing it to go flying out from underneath me!

1982 was the last year that Can-am's were built in Canada, after that production and development was outsourced to CCM of England. The 175, 250, and 400 were pretty much the same bike, except for the engine. I own the 175, it's a good handling bike, the Ohliins shocks are top notch (you'll probably have to get them rebuilt though), the Marzocchi forks are average (not quite as good as what Yamaha and Suzuki were running at that time). Bombardier referred to these bikes as 'endurocrossers' and I think they were supposed to perform both duties. If they had come out in 1980 they would have been the cats ass, but they weren't introduced until 1982 and were out-gunned by the single shock, liquid cooled japanese moto-crosser of that time. They will however, blow away any PE, IT, XR, or KDX of that era. For more info check out: http://www.classiccanam.com
