Can somebody give me an RC quote that was arrogant or cocky? I'm just trying to understand this hatred for RC. I listen to all of the ESPN post race interviews and I've never heard the guy say anything that made me think he was a jerk or something. Make no mention of the Honda thing please. In fact I've heard less whinning out of him than anybody.

You know what po's me, I don't think one of these goobers knows why they are booing-they are just booing b/c the dolt next to them is booing! I can tell you this, a racer wouldn't start hollering over what I saw on this afternoon's race but a non-racing, bandwagon-jumping, fair-weathered fan sure as hell would.

For whatever ridiculous reason, RC bashing is the thing to do if you've had to many brews, too little info and no clue about racing:silly: The guy is well spoken, trains ultra hard and is one of the great talents our sport has seen. The goons booing have no grounds whatsoever.

And as far as the Honda thing-it says it in my name. I'm a Honda freak (always have been)-all my riding buds know this and put up with it. I can't wait for some good ol' fashion Honda dominance again;)

Of course you couldn't say anything bad about someone that picks one bike over another, with little or no knowledge, having never actually riden the bikes they bash, regardless of which is really best, now could you?

Uh can I get a ruling on that statement please? Forgive my being dense at times, but what in the wide world of sports are you talking about?

In case you mis-understood there HiG4s, I was re-affirming KXKen about the whole RC to Honda switheroo. It is a moot point him going to Honda. Racers understand that, fair-weather fans sometimes don't:D

I admire the little freak. He's all about FOCUS and determination. I had my doubts about him last year, but he showed the whole world what he's about. I have yet to see a negative comment about the competition come from his yapper. He always bags on himself when he does poorly, but he has not (in my failing memory) blamed his lack of performance on anyone else. . .EVER.

why do people Boo Opie?? it's pretty simple... most fans don't like to watch one sided racing... and another large percentage didn't like watching RC destroy their beloved MC last season...

now of course, at Indy, that's a different story... i think most of the fans would love to have watched TP get his first 250 win... and most of the fans didn't like RC taking TP out for no good reason...

Before I get started, FLYBOY this is NOT directed at you-unless you ride a Hodaka:p

You know, these are the same chuckle-heads that are going to miss some of the best back and forth racing available in years. Between RC, DV, Roncada, TP, LaRocket, and all of the others...it is anybodys race.

To the "doofs" of the world-sit down, shut your yap and NO-you couldn't run the track as fast as these guys on your Hodaka Dirt Squirt:confused:

I also think we should be thanking RC for raising the bar for this year, the main reason that all of these other guys are riding so well is that they knew they had to step up to be competitive. The kid is classy and I hope he lets this crap make him stronger. (PS I am not just a fan bcause he is on a Honda, the one I have now is my first CR and I have been a lifelong team Honda resenter, he just doesn't deserve the crap).

I'm still looking for substance. A confirmed quote from a legit source will do. It amazes me how some of the people here that rip other people for their strong OPINIONS (bad word) are the ones that can't support their own OPINIONS.

I have never raced, and I am new to riding.

I have often wondered and looked to find out why people hate RC.

However, I dont think RC took him out malicously. RC is a super fast rider. A little weak on his PR skills but next to TP (who I really like) the beaver would come off looking like an butthead. TP is just a super nice kid, and RC might be just as nice he just doesnt come off that way.

What did you want RC to do put it in reverse and then go around him? They are moving pretty fast out there(thats why they are on TV!! and we are not).

I wanted to see TP win myself. Is RC a TP (in terms of personality) heck no but the reason I started this thread was because I wanted somebody to produce something that would lead me to think that RC has said anything that was cocky or arrogant.

It doesn't exist, he just doesn't gush charm like Travis Pastrana-but then who else does?

Quick question, if somebody did produce something, would it really matter? Ricky Johnson was the king of all times for cockiness in his career-especially early on. The results speak for themselves, and he will be remembered as one of the great talents, as should Ricky Charmichael.

The fact that nobody can produce (or doesn't want to try) anything leads me to think that your first question is the case.

Would it matter? Well that would depend on what was said. I've read interviews from riders I used to like that I don't like anymore because of things they said in interviews. I can't say I've heard or read anything that leads me to dislike the RC though.

What kills me about people bagging on him for the switch to Honda, somebody tell me a rider who rode one brand longer than RC rode Kawi? Seems to me he's shown more loyalty than anyone. All the other top pros have ridden the entire rainbow. I guess the old saying is true, it's lonely at the top.

Even David Baley said RC shouldn't have anything to explain to anybody.

I think kengriz1 hit the nail on the head:

"A little weak on his PR skills"

RC is not a personable as MC or TP, and I think everyone translates that to he's cocky, he doesn't enjoy racing, blah, blah.......

I, personally like RC, partially because he's on a Honda now, but mainly because he did what it took to knock MC off his throne. Nobody else could do it. He trained hard, was mentally prepared and did what it took to get the title. You've GOT to respect that.

I also think that a lot of what we are seeing this year is a result of RC's involvement. He raised the level and made everyone else realize that they could work extra hard and have the success that he's had.

I personnally try to enjoy the racing and not pay so much attention to the racer's. Any given week there are several guy's I would like to see do good, maybe I'm an idiot, but I would much rather see an awesome race and sixteen different winners in a season, than my favorite rider win every week.:)

Didn't RC say recently that he still has MC's autographed jersey hanging in his house? I think those two really enjoy giving each other a little crap every now and then, with no harm or ill will intended. It's just racin'! And none of these guys would be where they were if they were not at least a little bit Type A personalities and very aggressive riders. JMHO.

KXKEN, I don't think there is any 'real' hatred of RC, it is just a classic good guy, bad guy thing, if you have too many good guys, you invent or create the bad guy, thus RC and DV for 2002.

RC's comments about moving to Honda provided the spark for the fire. Add to that the dethroning of the beloved MC. 2001 was a big year for RC, and now he is the top dog, and as we know everyone loves the underdog. Having the top dog, 'take' out the underdog, just adds fuel to the imaginary fire. The final result having DV take the win from RC must have just confused the issue. Bad guys 1 and 2, now what ! OK cheer No1 boo No2. :think Wait for TP to win and the crowd will go wild.

If you want to have fun, put on the first Terrafirma video, there you can see RC, Travis, and bubba as kids. Makes for some good old 'Aw shucks' viewing.

So Ken, what you have set out to prove, you have proved, it is all hype and hoopla, there is no 'real' substance to any of it (the hatred).

Why anyone would take this stuff seriously I don't know. :silly:

My boy and I have been cheering for the kid long before he topped out in 2001, and he will be hearing our cheers for years to come.

BTW guys, I have never booed at an SX event, only at a rugby game, but I would like to save one for DV, just for the heck of it :p

BunduBasher, with that said this thread is closed in my mind. I just find the whole name calling thing (and all the other crap that goes along with it) I little bit alarming sometimes. I assume that most of the people here are cool. I just don't understand (what seems to be) hatred sometimes.

I'm satisfied and done with this.
