I know the entire fork assemby is BUT can I take the Damper assembly out of 2001 CR250 forks and put in 2000 forks and vice versa. My concern is that the 2001 fork is 1/2 longer overall to provide for the 20" wheel.

THANKS

I am fairly sure the 2000 czrtridge will not work in the 2001. The external upper fork tube and the internal cartridge from cap to spring perch are approximately 7mm longer on the 2001. Below the spring perch the cartridges are the same. This means that using the 2000 cartridges would cause the 2001 upper tubes to ride too low on the lower tubes and likely impact the axle clamps before full travel was reached. Factory Connection agreed with this and was unable to suggest a simple fix for me when I was trying to adapt 2000 works cartridges to 2002 forks . I did not check going the other way but the shortened overlap between upper and lower fork tubes may be a problem.
