My son has been on a CRF 50 since last year when he was 4. He has developed decent riding skills and did his first race last week.

I doubting whether this bike is the best option for him to race. Mainly because he still has not grasped shifting the bike. This is partly due to physical limitation...not being able to get his boot under there quickly and make a shift.

Plus the suspension on the CRF is not really made for motocross.

So I'm looking at used KTM 50cc two strokes...better suspension and no shifting...just turn throttle and go. I think this will make him more comfortable and confident. Also, he will be able to race in the oil injected class with kids closer to his age.

Am I missing anything???
