i have a 1972 yamaha 175. i was running it at about 45 mph for like 10 miles. on the way back, my engine started to bog down, i thought i was in too high of a gear, so i downshifted, i coasted into first, then my bike died. I couldnt figure out what was wrong with it. it was running great the way there... we gassed it up at the gas station before we headed back. when it died, i had compression. i havent really messed with it to much. but i am getting it today from my grandpa. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

When you filled up at the gas station, did you premix? or is it an oil injector bike?

Bottom line, did you have any 2 stroke oil in the bike?

From the sounds of it, you seized it.

I'm with Indy. Sounds as if you seized it. When it slows down and dies like that some call it a "soft seize". Either way the piston and cylinder should be inspected.
