I currently have an 87 xr200r and I will be getting a cr250, Probably early nineties. How much do each of these bikes weigh? I feel like the xr is pretty heavy(I am 6ft and athletically built)should i feel this way? will a cr be much lighter?

thanks in advance, Ian

Wow thats crazy. I can't wait to get that 2stroke now. What makes those Xr's such pigs? Is it just the motor? Or is it all the parts? I have to say i am relieved I'm not the only one who would find an xr200 heavy.

Awesome. I am going to go see a 1994 cr250 soon, in supposedly good condition. The price is 1800$ nego. What do you guys think of showing up with $1400 cash? What kind of approach would you take to this?

CR 250's since the mid 80's have all weighed in around 215-220lbs dry, maybe 230-235 ready to ride. Your XR200 weighs about the same. The CR is taller which may make it feel heavier, but once you start rolling, you'll notice it will be a lot more flickable and it will feel much lighter.

I went from an 89 XR250 to a 96 CR500. The 500 felt much lighter, the suspension was way better and the power made the 250 feel like a mini bike. I wouldn't even consider going back to an XR at this point. My 01 CR250 feels much lighter than my 500 but it doesn't come close to the power output of the CR5.

Go for it you'll love the CR. Ride red.

Power, suspension, handling, brakes, balance are all worlds above what the XR 200 has to offer. But, the CR is going to have at least 4 inches more stand over height. At 6ft tall, it will feel a little uncomfortable at first, but you will get used to it fast (1-2 rides).

hmm, so then are there in guys with 250's that are 5'5"? Or is that just an accident waiting to happen?

If it's too tall, you can lower it, to a certain extent. It will take some getting used to though.
