Had a blast at BMRA in Gilmer on Sunday. Took 11 riders out there and even though I hadn't been a member since October 2000 they still had my file...so I renewed my membership. First thing I noticed were the additions of many more trails/hills. One thing I was stoked about was hearing of a new moto loop that was cut. While we rode "some" of it, we kept loosing the trail. I was under the assumption that it was continous loop, but we'd come out of a single track and suddenly...no where to show where to go now.

Has anyone taken the time to highlight the loop on the BMRA map? I have a couple of standard issue BMRA maps with every single hill/trail on it and it's WAY too confusing to sort out the moto loop. Thanks!

I've done the moto loop many times with my sons, or others. It's a great ride. I've never really followed a map.You just have to be careful and watch the signs.

The last time I was there (about a month ago) it was confusing in some places because there was a relatively fresh single-track trail that had been cut for a GNCC (I believe) race that was held there. Sometimes it cut right across the 'mapped' moto-loop, and it was easy (and fun!) to pick up a different track.

Where does the loop start? I know what you're talking about the GNCC track. I got a funny feeling that we were on it at times.

It starts right near the entrance gate. When you come in the entrance, the exit is on your left. Right beside the exit is the start of the moto loop. I'm planning on being at Barnwell next Friday (2/17) with my wife and kids.

Here's what I can remember, to get to the loops, start off by accessing Desi Way near the Gate, then over to Omega, which runs parallel with the main entrance rd. The loop starts off about 3/4 of the way around Porterhouse (called DJ's Loop), then comes out on N end of We Show, goes S on We Show, across Access Rd up hill, then winds around and works it's way to the "T" at On Any Sunday, ride through mudhole area on OAS until the Loop starts again, then it comes out on Access Rd near the N end of Angry Jeep, then goes over part of Solihul. At this point, you should be near the SE corner of property, the trail follows the outer border of property until coming out near the Access Rd by the Sand Pit. Starts again on Rocky Run and works it's way around the southern perimeter. After all that, it's pretty easy to find the final miles and ends somewhere around Sidewinder.

Of course, there's several options to be taken so it takes several Loops to actually ride all of the single track!
