Just picked up a brand new 04 rm125 from the dealer and we bring it home to our son who is THRILLED (of course....I'm such the great MOM!)

1st problem
the bike doesn't like to be kickstarted! :bang:
It does however like to be pushstarted!!!! After it's all warmed up it STILL doesn't like to be kickstarted....only pushed.. :coocoo:
2nd problem
Then to top THAT off, unless gas is continually applied, the bike will stall out. This includes when the bike is warmed up!

Any suggestions would be truly grateful... HELP

Not sure on the starting but most MX bikes are setup so they don't idle. Since you list owning several bikes it's unlikely a basic technique issue. Our 03 was straight forward to start if it was cold put on the choke and no throttle, starting it hot just opened the throttle wide open and would go first kick.

Does it smoke? What happens when you crack the throttle (ie, does it bog--bwaaaaaa--or does it sputter with poor throttle response)?

It's going to be jetting. Less likely to be a float level issue. These things come set up wrong from the factory, typically rich...but you're at sea level, so...

my 04 yz125 came very rich from the factory. i dropped the main and pilot on size and raised the needle clip. it was only 40 deg. when i was playing with the jetting so i got more work to do when it warms up.

Thanks for the responses. I will get my hubby busy with all of your suggestions. It's so frustrating when buying a new bike (or car for that matter) that it isn't ready to go!!!
