Camera help

Not sure if this is the right thread but...

I want to get into photography but just to take pictures of things I like, not as a carrear. I want to take pictures of nature (IE streams animals) along with motocross shots too.

I'm very very tight on money ($280 at the most). Could you help me out and point me to the right direction?

I don't have much experience with anything other than dSLR's however any camera you're considering I'd check out at http://www.steves-digicams.com/ .

Below are links to a couple of excellent sources of information on lower priced digital cameras. They do a very good job of comparing features and quality.

I have been using a Fujifilm FinePix E900 as my carry around camera and have been amazed at the quality of shots I get with it.
