Okay My dad still thinks I'm twelve and every year I get a subscription to Seventeen Magazine (I would rather have Racer X) but anyways I was flipping through it and found a picture of Britney Spears, Can someone explain to me how this is a sexy spin on a tough motocross look? :think :scream: :silly:

Puh-leeze what do the editors of this magazine trying to do to us motocrossers??? I just don't get it

is that morocross garb

I looked at the picture and that sweet looking leather jacket doesn't look so much like a Motocross piece of gear, but a Superbike Leathers. Correct me if I am wrong, as I am a Newbie.

Tough motocross pit ho is probably what they meant :). If that jacket is leather, I'd say it would have looked better on the cow it came from :(.

No, I don't see any motocross there. Did you all see that picture of Daryl Hannah wearing Shift pants with big clunky boots a while back? It's giving us all a bad name!

BTW, what's with the underwear sticking out the top of the jeans? Is this another trend that has passed me by?

Scary thought but, the old laborers I work with are much trendier than even Ms. Spears - the went past the undies showing stage straight to plumber's butt stage!! Really wish they hadn't!! :scream:

As for the poser with the wrong pose, I'd say write them a letter

Seventeen:
whoknew17@seventeen.com

Primedia (the parent company):
corporatecommunications@primedia.com

Lets see

I was recently perusing the (month) issue of Seventeen and came across an image of Britney Spear's in a leather jacket with the comment that "she puts a decidedly sexy spin on the tough motocross look.....". The jacket has nothing to do with motocross. It looks like you could possibly pass it off as a bad replica of the jacket portion of the leathers worn by sportbike or flattrack racers but motocross - NO!

If you want to undermine the real female motocross racers, like myself by showing the stereotypical female poser at least get the terminology correct.

Even better, instead of using a poser that most likely can't even ride a bicycle, why not show some real female motocrossers. We are out here and we are actually respected for what we DO instead of what we wear - oh yeah, that would be going against what your mag stands for!

Sorry,

Me

Just an idea - wouldn't work for me cause I'm too darn old to understand the bubble headed crap they write. Same goes for Cosmo, and whatever other stupid mags they write for "real women". Now where is my latest DirtRider? :think

Too funny! These youngun's are turning into oldun's without even knowing it!

It's happened to me -- somewhere between 25 and now "old-fartness" has started to set in :silly:

Blackhawk, you should take bbbom's advice and send that letter in. Maybe they'll start figuring things out.

LMAO bbbom! Trendy laborers -- way too funny!

Great letter, Bbbom!!

As for trends, they passed me by even when I was at an age where I should have noticed them. I’ve never been fashionable. So either I’m old before my time, or just plain fashion retarded.

yikes, what will they have her doing next? :(
I'd definately write a letter Blackhawk468, it would sound better coming from a younger reader than one of us old.....well....never mind!
I am with FC22, in that I am fashion retarded myself :)

Wouldn't the p.c. term be "fashion-challenged?"

Heck, maybe all of us are if that's the "motocross look!" ;)

I don't see what the problem is.

At least they spelled motocross right.:)

That's funny. Victoria's Secret sells a similar jacket and they call it "motocross style" too. I showed it to Tim and asked if that's what they wore in the olden days (he was already racing the year I was born). He did wear leather pants back then but not jackets.
I have to admit when my boots were brand new I wanted to wear them with everything! The only thing that's kept me from being a complete fashion spazz is having a sister who's 6 years younger - unfortunately she was too young to help me in the 80's. She makes that tsk tsk tsk noise when she looks my photo albums.
