hey guys, what is the best way to rid my carb of varnish deposits? or clean the carb. can i run carb cleaner in the gas or what. last summer i had problems with this bec. i wasn't riding enough. right now i drain the carb so i don't leave any gas in there. is this the best way to do it? thanks.
You're doing everything right. Turn off the fuel valve, run the engine until it stops and then drain the bowl. That should do it :-)
If you want to avoid this process, just add some fuel stabilizer to the tank. This is available at most boating stores and extends the life of 2-stroke fuel significantly.
As far as cleanout...take it apart, hit it with some carb cleaner, a fresh rag and some compressed air.
