Today started out ok, but when I decided to put my new O-ring chain on my bike, I messed up. I cut the chain a link too short. I got it on, but the tension adjusters are all the way in and the chain is still pretty tight.

Will this hurt my bike or the chain? I woods ride primarily and am riding this Sunday at Wayne National Forest. I don't want anything to break while I am 20 miles into nowhere.

Thanks!

Yes it will hurt something. It could literally break the case around the front sprocket if the chain is way to tight.:(

Here is what you do. Cut one (1) link out of the left over piece of chain. Go to the bike shop and pick up another master link. Install the link along with the new master link. It won’t hurt anything to have two master links and you will find yourself with plenty of chain adjustment.

Hope this helps.:)

Actually, I do have an extra master link so I will go with that method. I wasn't sure if I could get away with two master links or not.

Thanks man!
