I am trying to find a gas tank for my 03 yz125 in black , but I have had no luck.
So I thought hey if i can dye it then it will be fine.
i know i can use rit clothing dye( I've used it for my rc cars) and I think it will work.
What do you guys/gals think

The first question is WHY? Is some color going to make your bike faster than the stock color? Plus, you're going to make it harder to sell the bike when it comes time to get a new one. I doubt you can do this anyhow. The color of the plastic is integral to the plastic when it's formed.

Although i wouldn't do it i have read about people using the die coloring on their tanks and plastics.

Try doing a search on it.

EVERYBODY knows that all GOOD FMXers have to have all black plastic and that darned blue tank is messing his gig up!

There is a graphics kit for the YZ that turns the bike yellow and the blue tank looks pretty lame.

As for dye, try to dye a fender first and see if it holds, if not, I wouldn't bother with the tank.

hey, well i wouldnt worry about it, like mark said, y? i know it looks kinda crappy but i have a 1993 honda cr 125 with black fenders, black shrouds, red and black seat cover, and black side plates, with a white tank, it does look kinda bad, but just get fast, if ya win races people wont give a sh** what your bike looks like, i would spend the money on like a vforce or pro circut pipe, cuz what are ya gonna do if ya bleech the tank and it looks worse? so idk, its not my bike. c yas

Cool, good guess , huh?! I wanted that kit real bad but after seeing it on a bike with blue frame and tank it looked, "off".

If your serious about the kit I would look into an aftermarket replacement tank from Clarke or IMS. I think their tanks are mostly white but that would be easier to dye. PLus if it doesn't take, the white will look better than blue.
