I have heard of people doing it without the split but I would like to see em do it.
Yes you will have to split the cases.

I've done it several times. You have to make a simple puller and tap the new ones in straight. Make sure the bearings are in good shape first, otherwise you will be splitting the cases! Send me a P.M. if you need any help.

What bike are we talking about here?KDX?
Kawadougie I can understand a tool could be fabricated to remove the old ones.
But can you explain to me how you "tap" them in strait past the seal retainer that is
cast into the cases without damaging the seal or deforming them?
You say you have done it several times.
Is it to the same bike?
If so mabey you are damaging the seals which may explain the several
times part.
It would be great not being able to split the cases.

Yes you'll have to split the cases as the KDX engine utilizes a lip to the outside of the crank seal bore to seat the seal against. You need to install the seal from the crank case side.

Kawadougie :| tell us more about the special technique!

Bummer, Dude! I've never replaced the seals on a new KDX200 but I have done it on many other bikes. I was unaware that the Kawie had a seal retainer built into the cases. Looks like splitting the cases is the only way.
